The Treasurer’s Office sends and receives payment for real estate taxes, personal property taxes, and mobile home taxes. The office works with the Board of County Commissioners in regard to the collection of delinquent taxes and the sale of real estate and personal property for nonpayment of taxes.

Vehicles are titled and licensed at the Treasurer’s Office. There is a variety of license plates available to choose from, using guidelines established by the Montana Department of Justice, Motor Vehicle Division and the Montana Legislature. (See

Driver license receipts are issued at the Prairie County Treasurer’s Office as well, although pictures and issuance of the actual license is not available.

The interest-bearing investments of the county’s money, as well as the Prairie Community Hospital, School District #5 and Buffalo Rapids Irrigation Project is done at the Treasurer’s Office, with authorization from these entities.
